Spring Wine Events

It’s springtime and it’s gorgeous outside!  The sun is shining, flowers are in bloom,  grape vines are growing and the vineyards are full of mustard flowers and there are some amazing don’t miss wine events coming up in some beautiful locations that  benefit great causes.

Appelation St. Helena (ASH) is holding it’s annual bASH this Saturday April 13 at the Culinary Institute of America in St Helena. The event held in the historic barrel room will have tasting stations with wines from 30 St. Helena wineries paired with food from St. Helena restaurants, caterers and students selected by the instructors of the CIA.  Proceeds from the event will goto ASH & the scholarship fund of the CIA http://www.eventbrite.com/event/5115781440#St.

Meals on Wheels 26th Annual Star Chefs and Vintners Gala is Sunday April 21 at Fort Mason.  This is a not to be missed event  with an hors d’oeuvre reception, three course dinner and lavish dessert reception with notable chefs, wineries and bartenders from SF and it  benefits Meals on Wheels SF. It’s a chance to dress up, enjoy delectable food and wine and dance the night away,  all for a good cause  http://www.mowsf.org/gala/

Wine Spectator comes to SF with their Grand Tour on Thursday April 24 at the Marriot Marquis on 4th Street.  There will be over 200 wines and a chance to mingle with wine makers, and winery owners and taste some really amazing wines    http://www.etix.com/ticket/online/performanceSearch.jsp?performance_id=1681463

On Saturday April 27, Taste of Success at the Golden Gate Club is a benefit for Junior Achievement and allows an opportunity for food  wine and fun  http://tasteofsuccess2013-eorg.eventbrite.com/

In Dry Creek Valley Saturday and Sunday April 27 & April 28 is Passport to Dry Creek a food and wine extravaganza at more than 50 wineries in Dry Creek.    It’s a great excuse to spend the weekend in Sonoma.  The wineries in Dry Creek have delicious food and wine pairings, music and fun themes in gorgeous Dry Creek Valley  http://arestravel.com/5836_attraction-tickets_a882_r944328.html

Hopland’s Spring Passport is Saturday May 4 thru Sun May 5 11am-5pm at various wineries in Hopland.  This event includes food and wine pariing at 17 Hopland wineries and and at only $45  is a great deal.  As a bonus if you don’t want todrive you can pay for a shuttle ticket to take you to all of the wineries http://www.destinationhopland.com/store

These are all fun events with the chance to taste wonderful wines paired with delicious foods.  The events vary from formal black tie affairs to fun low key afternoon events.  Taking place  in San Francisco,  St Helena, Dry Creek, Hopland, Anderson Valley & Alexander Valley and each event provides a great chance to taste delicious wine paired with yummy food.  I highly recommend all of these.
