April Wine Events

Spring is here, there are buds breaking on the vines, and after some much needed rain, vineyards are starting to grown.  As we head into April next week, there are some amazing food & wine events this month definitely worth checking out.   The events span San Francisco, Calistoga, Napa & Sonoma and take place at wineries, resorts, the CIA and Mercedes-Benz so there is something for everyone!

Sip & Savor, Thursday April 10  The sixth annual San Francisco Sip & Savor benefit for the Mission YMCA is Thrusday April 10th from 6pm-9pm at Mercedes-Benz in San Francisco.  Celebrity chefs and rock star wineries will come together for an evening of delectable food and award winning wines amongst new and vintage luxury cars in Mercedes-Benz of SF’s stunning showroom.  All proceeds provide critical services including school programs for San Francisco children and families in need.  So you can feel good enjoying food & wine for a great cause!  https://www.eventbrite.com/e/sip-savor-tickets-9404825085

Calistoga Food & Wine Event, Friday April 11  Held outdoors in the beautiful setting of Solange Calistoga, on April 11th from 6pm-9pm 30 Calistoga wineries will be pouring wines accompanied by incredible small bites from Solange Calistoga’s Executive Chef Brandon Sharp who has received a coveted Michelin Star for five consecutive years (2010-2014).  There will also be live cooking stations featuring locally-grown seasonal ingredients and live music from Tipsy Gypsy Quartet http://www.calistogafoodandwine.com/aboutus.html

Appellation St. Helena bASH, Saturday April 19, The annual food and wine pairing competition of Appellation St. Helena (ASH)  is April 19th, 2014 from 6pm-8:30 pm in the historic barrel room at the Culinary Institute of America.   Over thirty ASH wineries will be paired with savory bites prepared by ‘Rising Star’ students selected by the teaching staff of the CIA, as well as by selected St. Helena restaurants and caterers.  Attendees vote for their favorite pairing in the professional and student/professional categories with prises awarded to the chefs. Passport to Dry Creek, Saturday & Sunday April 26-27 Over one weekend, Passport guests are welcomed into 50+ wineries throughout Dry Creek Valley, each offering their wines with specially selected gourmet food pairings.  This event is an opportunity to take a vineyard tour and experience a grape-to-glass look at amazing Dry Creek Valley wine.  You will be able to sample exclusive vintages, rarely available to taste & meet winemakers and grapegrowers behind the wine and magical ‘Dry Creek Valley spirit’.  This year is the 25th anniversary of Passport and many people have been coming since the beginning.  This is definitely a not to miss event.  http://www.wdcv.com/events/passport-to-dry-creek-valley.php
